John Dougherty

Policeman John Dougherty was struck and killed by a trolley while directing traffic at the intersection of 29th Street and Lehigh Avenue.

A trolley carrying fans to a doubleheader baseball game at Shibe Park derailed and struck him as he directed traffic. He was transported to Women's Homeopathic Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Policeman Dougherty was a widower.
