Deputy Sheriff George Rogers and Deputy Sheriff Ulyss Baldwin were shot and killed while attempting to locate a subject who had escaped from the Cleveland County Convict Farm.

The deputies, along with a third deputy, were searching for the escapee at his brother's home. As the deputies searched the home the brother shot them multiple times, wounding all three deputies. Deputy Baldwin and Deputy Rogers were both taken to a hospital in Pine Bluff where they died while in surgery.

On today, the 92nd anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you to you and your fellow Deputy Sheriff who was also killed in that incident for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Cleveland County.
