Patrolman Edward Johansen died after contracting hepatitis after performing CPR on an infected individual on November 13th, 1971.
His condition worsened, forcing him to medically retired in 1974. He died as a result of the disease on June 28th, 1977.
Patrolman Johansen had served with the Peabody Police Department for 11 years. He was survived by his wife and two children.
