Police Officer Gregory Owens succumbed to injuries sustained six years earlier when his patrol car was struck by a drunk driver on March 17th, 2002.
He was responding to a disturbance call with his emergency equipment activated when the drunk driver turned in front of him. The crash caused Officer Owens to suffer injuries to his back and neck; forcing him to medically retire from the department. His condition continued to worsen and he died as a result of the injuries on February 17th, 2008.
Officer Owens was a U.S. Navy and Oklahoma Air National Guard veteran. He had served with the Catoosa Police Department for 11 years. He is survived by his two daughters.
