Police Officer Gregory Owens succumbed to injuries sustained six years earlier when his patrol car was struck by a drunk driver on March 17th, 2002.

He was responding to a disturbance call with his emergency equipment activated when the drunk driver turned in front of him. The crash caused Officer Owens to suffer injuries to his back and neck; forcing him to medically retire from the department. His condition continued to worsen and he died as a result of the injuries on February 17th, 2008.

Officer Owens was a U.S. Navy and Oklahoma Air National Guard veteran. He had served with the Catoosa Police Department for 11 years. He is survived by his two daughters.

It's hard to believe it's been 25 years this year since we first worked together at TCSO and served together in the OKANG my friend. I still miss ya brother and I can see you in my minds eye fresh out on patrol in that old 1988 Caprice.
