Patrolman Joseph Brassard suffered a fatal heart attack shortly after being kicked in the chest as he and another officer attempted to arrest a drunk subject at a local bar.

He had returned home following his shift when he suddenly collapsed. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Patrolman Brassard had served with the Troy Police Department for eight years. He was survived by his wife and four children.

On today, the 50th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
