Jesse Lemuel "Lem" Jones

Officer Lem Jones was shot and killed after responding to a disorderly conduct call at a woman's home.

When he arrived at the scene he was fatally shot by two men who had planned to murder him. Both subjects were convicted of Officer Jones' murder. One of the convictions was overturned on appeal.

Officer Jones was survived by his wife, son, and daughter.

Both suspects were convicted of second degree murder. The gunman was sentenced to 25 years. He was released in 1918. in 1937 he was shot and killed by a woman when he threatened her with a knife. The other suspect was sentenced to 13 years.
