I enjoyed working with Officer Smiley. He was a good man. He was always focused on getting on the air unit (phoenix) from the begining of when he joined the zone. He knew EXACLY what he wanted to do. He was able to accomplish his goal in joining Phoenix. Off Smiley was very intelligent and passionate. I remember he was on a traiffic stop off 75nb and he asked for me on surviellance channel. I was always honored that he looked to me for help on his calls and I was always there when he needed me. I remember being on the side of Marietta blvd once with Smiley and a passing motorist struck him. The next thing I know Smiley is pounding on the hood of the car screaming at the driver. He hulked out. We laughed about it later. I remember being on a robbery call with Smiley off Northside Circle. Off Smiley was always very articule with citizens and he gave very good advise to the victim on that call. I have many memories of working with off Smiley on MW in zone 2. I remember attending officer Smiley's funeral. That was a tough day. Officer Smiley was a good man... above all he was a family man. He loved his family more than anything. He will be missed...
