Marshal Edgar Park was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a man who was creating a disturbance.
Despite being mortally wounded, Marshal Park was able to return fire and wounded the subject.
Marshal Park was survived by his father. He was preceded in death by his wife and mother. He was a Union Civil War Veteran who served as a 1st Lieutenant with the 8th Kentucky Infantry, Companies F and S.
