I will never forget this day! Scotty Bennett was married to my sister Becky Baker and their daughter Kendra Lee was just a baby. He was a wonderful brother , my Dad Jerry Baker loved him like his own Son. He wasn’t an Angel that’s for sure none of us are we are only human but he had a tender heart.
My Granmother 3 years before this was dying from CHF and Scotty made the statement he wouldn’t make it to live to old age. I told him to stop saying that he said it’s true; God wants me to preach but I can’t so it’s ok I accept it.
I was attending Registered Nursing School, and was on my way to school on 4/15/1991 when I stopped for a snack and asi passed the newspaper stand I saw my Brother Scotty’s picture on the front page. I smiled and said what’s he done now? I will lock when I come out.
With a Dr Pepper and cinnamon roll I bought a paper read it through tears and sobs sitting on the curb. No phone, no way to call my Sister or Dad and Mom. I Just Broke Down for about an hour their. I didn’t go to school I went to my Dad’s and Mom’s my Sister , Niece and Brother Jerry Jr were there. His Funeral was Honorably done, as was his Grave side even in the rain. Tear of Angels of a life taken way so soon. I miss you Dear Scotty. Love always your Sis!
