Albert Strong Boney

Patrolman Albert Boney was killed in a motorcycle accident while on patrol six miles east of Kenansville near Weaver's Bridge. He failed to see the bridge due to dense fog resulting from a local forest fire and struck the bridge abutment.

As a result of the string of fatal motorcycle accidents with his agency, the use of motorcycles was discontinued until the 1990s.

Patrolman Boney had served with the North Carolina Highway Patrol for three months.
