Albert Strong Boney

Patrolman Albert Boney was killed in a motorcycle accident while on patrol six miles east of Kenansville near Weaver's Bridge. He failed to see the bridge due to dense fog resulting from a local forest fire and struck the bridge abutment.

As a result of the string of fatal motorcycle accidents with his agency, the use of motorcycles was discontinued until the 1990s.

Patrolman Boney had served with the North Carolina Highway Patrol for three months.

Patrolman Boney,

I just added your name to our B4 members contact list in a place of honor along with Trooper H. R. Griffin. Your names will not be forgotten by the Troopers that serve in this district. Your sacrifice still drives home the fact that our citizens need us now more than ever, and always will. Thank you for the honor and respect that you established for me and those that followed you. We will continue your work.
