Harry L. Bolin

Assistant Chief Harry Bolin succumbed to injuries he received in an automobile crash on West Broadway on June 15, 1932.

Assistant Chief Bolin was following a car he suspected of transporting illegal whiskey. To avoid detection, he was driving without headlights and ran off the road into a ditch.

He was transported to Bethel Hospital, where he passed away two days later. Two other officers in the vehicle survived their minor injuries.

Assistant Chief Bolin had served with the Newton Police Department for over two years. He was survived by his wife, young son, parents, two brothers, and a sister.
