James W. Liney

Officer James Liney was killed in a motorcycle crash on 15th Street, near Sage Avenue, while on patrol at approximately 11:00 p.m. His motorcycle collided with another vehicle head-on during a period of rain.

Officer Liney was a U.S. Army veteran of WWI and had served with the Troy Police Department for 3.5 years. He was survived by his wife, son, and two daughters.

On today, the 90th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army as a member of the 27th “New York” Division in Europe fighting the Germans during World War I.
