Deputy Fred Hollingsworth was shot and killed while searching for a suspect in the countryside. The posse he was riding with split up and when he failed to return to a prearranged meeting area a search conducted for him.

His body was later found suffering from a gunshot wound.

The suspect was apprehended and charged with Deputy Hollingsworth's murder.

Deputy Hollingsworth had served with the agency for four years. He was survived by his wife and two children.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 95th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
