Evan Frederick Schneider

Trooper Evan Schneider was killed in an automobile crash on Highway 2, near the entrance to Bad Rock Canyon in Flathead County, when his vehicle collided with a large truck head-on.

Trooper Schneider was attempting to stop another vehicle when it crossed the center line, forcing the oncoming truck to swerve onto the gravel shoulder and lose control. The truck then also crossed the center line and struck Trooper Schneider's patrol car head-on. The vehicle Trooper Schneider was attempting to stop fled the scene.

The two occupants of the pickup truck were also killed.

Trooper Schneider was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and had served with the Montana Highway Patrol for 4 1/2 years. He is survived by his wife, brother, and parents. His brother also serves with the agency.

Trp Schneider…thank you for your dedicated service, both to our nation and to the State of Montana. I drove by your memorial sign along Highway 2 today and immediately had tears in my eyes, before I even researched what had happened. You will never be forgotten.
