H. C. Cash

Town Marshal H.C. Cash was shot and killed as he walked down a local street in Oliver Springs.

Marshal Cash, leading his 6 year-old son by the hand, was en route to an entertainment when a man stepped in front of him, pulled a pistol, and shot him four times. The suspect surrendered to the local sheriff but would not make a statement. The suspect had been arrested several times by Marshal Cash and the shooting was attributed to that fact.

The suspect was convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to 20 years.
