William Sherfie "Pete" Peterson

Officer Peterson succumbed to injuries sustained two months earlier while he and his partner pursued a suspected drunk driver on Clearview Avenue.

Their patrol car struck a large stone that was in the roadway, causing Officer Peterson to suffer a serious shoulder injury.

Officer Peterson was placed on light duty following the incident. He suffered a fatal blood clot as he recovered.

Officer Peterson served with the Akron Police Department for five years. He was survived by his wife and son.
