Deputy Walker was shot and killed as he and other prohibitions officers served warrants at a home to search for illegal stills. As the officers approached, the suspects opened fire killing Deputy Walker. The other deputies returned fire, killing two suspects and their mother.

Over 70 bullets fired by the deputies hit the house the suspects were held up in. Miraculously seven children who were in the house were not injured.

Deputy Walker was survived by his wife and two children.

You gave your life doing something brave and noble. You set the bar for those of us who would follow you. If you could have only lived to see the legacy of good men that you produced, you would be proud. My grandfather, your son, was a good man. He produced two extremely good men of his own, my dad and my uncle. I thank you not only for your courage and service Great Grandfather, but for your example to all of us. I will do my best to uphold your example, and will constantly strive to make this world a better place. Rest in peace, until we meet.
