Thomas Luke Brannigan

Corrections Officer Thomas Brannigan suffered a fatal heart attack while responding to a prison alarm where several inmates were fighting.

He collapsed after running up to the second floor to the location of the fight.

Other officers immediately began performing CPR on Officer Brannigan. He was transported to the prison's medical facility where he was pronounced dead.

Officer Brannigan had served with the Blair County Prison for 17 years. He was survived by his wife and child.

On today, the 30th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Blair County. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. There is no tougher job in Law Enforcement then that of a Corrections Officer.
