Larry William Cantrell

Officer Larry Cantrell was killed in an automobile accident while responding to a call of a burglary in progress.

Officer Cantrell was on patrol when he received the burglary call. He was en route on Highway 66 with his lights and sirens on when a vehicle pulled out in front of him. In an attempt to avoid a collision, Officer Cantrell veered off the road, but his patrol car flipped over. Officer Cantrell was air lifted to Tulsa Hospital, but died from his injuries.

Patrolman Cantrell's father, who was participating in a ride along and sitting in the front passenger seat of the patrol car, was also killed in the accident.

Officer Cantrell had previously served with the Vinita Police Department and spent 11 years in the United States Navy.

I don’t know what made me leave a reflection today. You cross my mind a lot more often then I come to this page, but today there is another fallen officer and it made me think of you and your dad. I’m glad I was at the right place at the right time to try to help
