Julius Leonard Plummer, Sr.

Sheriff Julius Plummer succumbed to injuries sustained the previous day when he was involved in an automobile accident while driving a prisoner to the county jail.

On October 26, Sheriff Plummer was transporting a prisoner to the Southern Railway Station for transport to Frankfort Penitentiary. At the intersection of Fourth Street and Madison Avenue, the Fort Mitchell streetcar struck his vehicle. Both Sheriff Plummer and the prisoner were injured and rushed to St. Elizabeth Hospital where Sheriff Plummer died the next day.

Sheriff Plummer had served with the agency for over 30 years. He was survived by his wife and eight children and he is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
