Lieutenant Haley was killed in an automobile accident while transporting an inmate from Abilene to Comanche. The inmate was also killed in the accident. The accident occurred on Highway 36 near Cross Plains, Callahan County, Texas.
Lieutenant Haley had served with the Comanche County Sheriff's Department for 16 years.
