Night Policeman Bev Hollifield died of injuries he received when he was struck by a vehicle on Mayo Trail in the Porter Addition section of Prestonsburg.

He had just arrested a drunk driver and placed him in his cruiser when he was struck by a passing vehicle.

Policeman Hollifield had served with the Prestonburg Police Department for nine years. He was survived by his wife and two children.
