Deputy Sheriff John Strickland was killed in an automobile crash while responding to a call at 7:46 a.m.

While driving to a trespassing call, his vehicle swerved off the road and struck a tree on Nursery Road near Highway 87.

Deputy Strickland was a U.S. Army veteran and had served with the Harnett County Sheriff's Office for eight months. He is survived by his wife and three children. His father also served with the agency.

Babe :) I love you and I miss you so terribly :( Life is hard and gets harder and harder every day...but I know you would be so proud (Heck! You're probably dancing with the Father) knowing that Trump won! You were a Family Man, a Christian, a Republican, a Soldier, and a Deputy, yet none of these words truly describe the man you were. YOU were a GIVER! I know you see everything, so there is no reason to put it all here for others to read. We have a wonderful son-in-law, 2 wonderful daughters-in-law, and 6 BEAUTIFUL grandchildren! Our 3 miracle children have created wonderful families whom I get to spend glorious amounts of time with :) I know when I leave this earth and arrive home I will have 3 Js waiting for me: Jesus (My Lord and Savior), James (my daddy who left this earth at 57!), and John (my Husband, my Friend, my Favorite Person)! Until we meet at the Pearly Gates, watch over us all and protect us! YOU ARE LOVED BEYOND ALL MEASURE!!!!!
