Joseph Scott Quarles

Deputy Joseph Quarles was killed in an automobile accident while responding to backup a deputy at the Laurens Speedway concerning a fight.

He was traveling on AB Jacks Road when his vehicle went out of control, struck an embankment and overturned. Deputy Quarles was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at around midnight.

Deputy Quarles had been a certified patrol deputy for 17 months, and had previously worked as a detention officer for one year. He is survived by his parents.

Wow. I was looking for something to show a friend about another officer and I decided to see if you were listed here.

2003. It's been so long now...but it didn't feel like it.

I remember when someone we were in Jr. ROTC with at Byrnes called and told me about the accident. I was just in shock. I remember you being so lively, so hilarious...such a good person to know.

The Daytona Beach trip...the other many field trips we were all on...

"Operation Dumbo Drop"
"You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" sang at that restaurant on the pier...
"Puddin' Legs..." many other little bits that stick out and make me laugh, but make me sad at the same time.

You are a great guy, and you are still missed, Squirrels.
