Uncle John changed the lives of our entire family. He joined the force after surviving WWI (wounded, missing in action, amnesia). He told my grandmother that he would pay the monthly stipend due the family so my mother and Uncle Joe could return to high school. They went on to become a teacher and an engineer. We can't describe our admiration for John Plunkett's life of sacrifice and kindness.
