Jeffery Lee Springer

Lieutenant Jeffery Springer suffered a fatal pulmonary embolism shortly after being involved in a foot pursuit in which he was assaulted.

Lieutenant Springer caught the suspect and was assaulted as he held him down waiting for backup officers. After the incident he felt ill and was taken to the emergency room where he suffered a heart attack.

Lieutenant Springer had served in law enforcement for 23 years. He is survived by his wife two children.

Jeff, was my partner in 1979 at the Red Oak Texas Police Department. He was a great person and we had a good time working together. Red Oak was a three man department at the time and we would either come in a couple of hours early or stay late to make the shift seem as long. I live in his grandmother's house and think of him frequently. Rest in peace partner...
