Officer Joseph Hanusey was killed in an automobile accident while responding to backup another officer at approximately 0200 hours.
The officer lost control of his patrol car and struck some trees at Route 611 and Haring Road.
Officer Hanusey had been employed with the Plumstead Township Police Department for five years, and is survived by his wife, parents, sister, and two brothers.
