William Baumeister

Patrolman William Baumeister succumbed to a gunshot wound sustained the previous day while responding to a report of an assault.

A man had just struck his victim over the head with a brick and shot him. When Patrolman Baumeister arrived at the scene, near the intersection of 113th Street and Second Avenue, the subject shot and killed him. The subject was later arrested and charged with murder.

Patrolman Baumeister was assigned to the 29th Precinct, which is now the 23rd Precinct.
