Sergeant Gary Scott was killed in an automobile accident while participating in a vehicle pursuit on US 301.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene but wrecked several miles away. Two suspects were taken into custody the next day.

Sergeant Scott had served with the Sylvania Police Department for 28 years. He is survived by his wife, daughter, and son. His son serves as a deputy for a neighboring agency.

22 years ...Goodness Gary...I had not seen My daddy (Bruce Oliver) cry but maybe two times in my entire life at this point. But watching him break down when you left this world broke my heart. He loved (still does) you like a brother for more years than I can count. You were a part of my "family" long before I came along, and were always thought of as Family. You are missed. Rest in peace. Give Kay a big ole hug from me! ❤️
