Leonard Burton Turner

Deputy Turner suffered a fatal heart attack while transporting a prisoner. Deputy Turner had responded to a disturbance at a dance hall and attempted to arrest a suspect for public intoxication. During the arrest a struggle ensued and Deputy Turner had to use his pepper spray. While transporting the prisoner to jail the suspect attempted to kick out the rear window of the cruiser. Deputy Turner pulled over and called for backup. When other officers arrived they found him slumped over the steering wheel.

Deputy Turner had been with the agency for 18 years and is survived by his wife and two children.

Daddy, I will always remember. You are missed so much. I wish you were here to see your grandsons. To hug me tight. I know you died doing what you loved, and I am so proud to have you as my dad. I still remember how the air was ripped from my chest the morning I found out you were gone. The tears I cried for you the day I got married...I knew you were watching from Heaven. But I miss you. I think about you all the time. You weren't perfect but you have always been my hero. I love you so much Daddy. I will see you again...
