Keith Ashley Turner

Officer Turner was shot and killed after stopping a stolen vehicle. The car was being driven by two suspects who had overpowered a Mississippi sheriff who was transporting them to court and then shot and wounded another officer. Officer Turner had called for backup after making the stop but was shot and killed before backup officers arrived.

One of the suspects was arrested the next day by Moody Police and the other was arrested on July 6, 1998. One suspect was sentenced to death, with the execution carried out on April 28, 2005. The second second was sentenced to life without parole.

Officer Turner is survived by his wife and child.
