Officer Conklin was killed in an automobile while attempting to stop a speeding vehicle. Officer Conklin's patrol vehicle, a Ford Expedition, left the roadway as he attempted to catch the vehicle from a stationary radar location. He was ejected from the vehicle as a result of the crash.

Officer Conklin had served with the agency for 2 months.

The Conklin Award and Scholarship has helped enable many others to become police officers. One of those persons is my daughter's best friend. He is a fine young man and an exceptional officer. We are blessed to have him in our daughter's life. We are blessed that Officer Conklin's legacy lives on. Thank you
