Andre Barksdale

Officer Barksdale was shot and killed with his own weapon after responding to a domestic disturbance at 7 p.m. at 12695 Blackstone Street.

Officer Barksdale engaged in a struggle with the suspect as he slit the throat of his six-month-old child, killing her. The suspect also shot another officer at the scene. That officer returned fire killing the suspect.

Officer Barksdale had served with the Detroit Police Department for two years. He was survived by his three-year-old son, his mother, two brothers, and three sisters.
