Trooper Nathaniel Burroughs was killed when he was struck by a tractor-trailer while investigating an accident on Route 17 at 11:15 am.

The driver of the tractor-trailer lost control of his rig during hazardous weather conditions. He struck a car, which in turn struck the officer.

Trooper Burroughs was transported to Horton Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

He had served with the New York State Police for ten years and was assigned to Troop F.
