Officer Robert Yezzi was killed when he was struck by a vehicle while on a pedestrian stop.

While talking to the individual, he brandished a knife causing the officers to back up, and all three were struck by an automobile. The driver of the car was not charged, the headlights from the police vehicle blinded her, and she did not see them. The suspect was convicted of aggravated assault on a police officer and incarcerated.

Officer Yezzi had served with Bensalem Township Police Department for four years.

Thank you for your service. I never knew you, but my father was your partner on that horrific day. Lives were forever changed and even though I didn't realize it then because I was too young to know what was going on, I consider myself EXTREMELY blessed. My heart aches for your family and what they went through. I will go out of my way to make sure any police officers I see, know that they are appreciated and to thank them for their service because tomorrow is not promised. Rest in Peace, and again, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.
