Add to My HeroesBilly Wilson Yant
Chief Yant was shot and killed during a traffic stop to serve a warrant for threatening phone calls. The couple he stopped were suspected to be armed and dangerous, but he elected to stop them by himself. Before the chief could get out of the patrol car, the driver began shooting. He was able to get out of the car and get a shot or two off before falling to the pavement. The suspect then stood over him with an automatic rifle and shot him a total of 13 times. Both suspects were apprehended, the male committed suicide in jail and the female was deported.
Chief Yant was survived by his wife, children and twin sister.
