Norval J. Wright

Patrolman Norval Wright was killed in a motorcycle crash while en route from the police station to his patrol area. His motorcycle crashed when it struck a patch of gravel near North and Bigalow streets at approximately 3:00 pm.

Patrolman Wright was a United States Marine Corps veteran and had served with the Peoria Police Department for nearly seven years. He was survived by his wife, two children, and parents.

I was there at the crash site in the back of my parents 1947 Plymouth Coupe immediately after the accident, and in stopped traffic. I was six and a half years old .. As we moved forward Mom said "don't look", but I did ... saw him and the bike ... I served 1,135 consecutive days in the Vietnam War, and became a Deputy U. S.Marshal, retiring in December 1997 after 27 years eight months. I've been back several times over the years to the memorial stone, the last time January 2024. Peace Brother.
