Thomas Joseph Wixted

Officer Wixted was struck and killed by a drunk driver while directing traffic outside the Philadelphia Convention Hall at 34th Street and Currie Avenue, following a basketball game.

Officer Wixted was taken to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries early the following morning.

Officer Wixted had served with the Philadelphia Police Department for 13 and a half years. He was survived by his wife.
