I never knew you, but attended Skyline with your little brother, Joe, and graduated in '80. I remember reading and hearing about your death, as I had just rotated back to the States in the Marine Corps.
I didn't put two and two together until later when I became an Officer myself in '86.
This always kept me alert and reminded to keep sharp for Officer safety and to always look for the unexpected.
I've spoken briefly with Joe about this offering him my condolences over the years, from time to time. I know you figured very prominently in his life and he tries to live up to standards he believed you lived your life by.
I hope you rest easy and know that in my opinion, Joe is a good man and has lived up to his beliefs being a good example for us all.
As a fellow law enforcement Officer, I know your memory will never be forgotten and will serve as a grim reminder of what this job can hold, but also hold up the hope of honorable men, stepping forward to be counted for the greater good.
I'm sure we'll meet one day. Until that time, rest easy.
