BEAUMONT, Texas — Seventy years later, a Beaumont police officer and WWII veteran is being remembered after he was killed in the line of duty.

On April 26, 1950, Officer Henry Norman Williams was killed when a car failed to yield, hitting his motorcycle.

Williams served in the U.S. Army during WWII and had been with the Beaumont Police Department for two years.

The driver was charged with negligent homicide.

Today, The Beaumont Police Department remembers Officer Henry Norman Williams killed in the line of duty on April 26, 1950.
