Frank Wieter

Chief Frank Wieter was shot and killed while walking a man to the city hall.

The suspect suddenly produced a .25-caliber handgun and shot Chief Wieter to death. The 28-year-old suspect was apprehended and confessed to the murder. He was convicted of murder and sentenced to life. He was released less than 22 years later.

Chief Wieter was survived by his wife and two daughters.
