Policeman Kenneth Walters and his partner were pursuing a motorist for a traffic violation when their patrol car struck a light pole at the corner of Jefferson and West Blvds.

Policeman Walters, who was a the passenger in the car, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The driver the officers were pursuing was never apprehended.

Policeman Walters was 23 years old at the time of his death. He had previously served in the United States Navy. He was survived by six siblings.

On today, the 45th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the USN in Vietnam. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
