Dominic R. Verdi

Chief Dominic Verdi was killed in an automobile accident on US 90 near Crosby, Texas, while attending a regional conference on organized crime.

His vehicle collided almost head-on with a tractor trailer. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Chief Verdi had served in law enforcement for a total of 38 years with the New Orleans Police Department, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, and Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Department. He is survived by his wife, six children, 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

I knew your Dad back when Barney Schoenberger was Sheriff (when I started)
. He was placed in narcotics by Ernest D Wooton, the first in such a capacity with the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff ever. His death was a shock to us all, and his humor and personality were sorely missed.
