Border Patrol Agent Oscar Torres died after falling through an opening on the western Sante Fe Railroad bridge over the Rio Grande River in El Paso, Texas.
He and two other agents went to the bridge to open a gate to allow a train to pass through. As he returned to the land he tripped and fell to the river bottom, 25 feet below.
Agent Torres had served with the United States Border Patrol for five years. He was survived by his wife and three children. He was buried in the Buena Vista Cemetery, Brownsville, Cameron County, Texas.
