Detective Charles Tiller was shot and killed by suspected bootleggers at a saloon on Maple and Armstrong Streets.
One of the suspects was convicted of Detective Tiller's murder and was executed on September 30, 1921.
Detective Tiller had served with the Columbus Division of Police for three years. He was survived by his wife, son, daughter, and stepdaughter.
