George W. Thompson

Patrolman George W. Thompson was shot to death at 11:00 P.M. in the 30th Street block between Dearborn and Federal Streets by one of two suspects he another another patrolman stopped to search.

One of the suspects drew a revolver and fatally wounded Patrolman Thompson. Patrolman Thompson's killer was shot and fatally wounded by another officer. The second subject was arrested and on November 16, 1925, held by the Coroner. On March 16, 1926, he was acquitted.
