Operative Henry Thomas succumbed to injuries received approximately one month earlier in a vehicle crash in Sanford, North Carolina, that occurred on July 21st, 1936.

He suffered a fractured pelvis in the crash and died from complication of the injuries on August 17th, 1936.

I am grateful for his service. My grandfather was James Augustus Thomas, 1861-1940, from Reidsville, NC, son of Henry Evans Thomas. Would this younger Henry Evans Thomas be James' brother?
