Lieutenant Raymond Terry suffered a fatal heart attack while struggling with a suspect after responding to a fight call at an apartment complex on North Cain Street. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
One of the subjects whom he struggled with was convicted of eight charges in connection with the incident and sentenced to five years in prison.
Lieutenant Terry was a United States Air Force Korea War and Vietnam War veteran and had served with the Clinton Police Department for 13 years. He was survived by his wife, three children, five stepchildren, six grandchildren, a mother, and two siblings.
