Officer Lawrence Sullivan was shot and killed while questioning a suspicious subject.

During his patrol, Officer Sullivan observed a suspicious man on the street. As Officer Sullivan stopped him for questioning, the offender produced a revolver. The gunman fired several times, striking Officer Sullivan. Other officer returned fire, killing the suspect.

Officer Sullivan was rushed to the hospital, where he died of his injuries the following day.

Officer Sullivan had served with the 9th district.
