I was 4yrs old in 1953, when my parents and I stopped in a cafe in Dalhart if I recall correctly. Like most youngsters, I was fascinated with policemen. I walked up to Trooper Stinnett and his partner and engaged them in a conversation. I asked him if I could see one of his bullets, whereupon he gave me one to keep as a souvenir. However, he instructed me to turn it over to my Dad for safe keeping. I've never forgotten his name or that brief moment. What a man!
